The new year began wonderfully— with lots of snow and children's eyes shining brightly. For days, the children had been looking forward to the moment when it would no longer be quite so cold and they could finally go outside again. When the time came, nothing could keep anyone indoors.
Dressed warmly, we headed outside. First, we inspected the toboggan run —unfortunately, we had to wait, because the wind had blown almost all the snow off the field again. But that didn't dampen our spirits. On the way there, the children kept sinking into the deep snow, laughing loudly and helping each other out again. It was great fun!
Afterwards, everyone romped around and tried out all sorts of things in the garden: they rode sleds and toboggans, built caves, shoveled paths through the snow, and of course, they couldn't resist making snow angels. These were particularly popular—and were perfect for a fun snowball fight. The teachers were not spared either, of course , and were laughingly "baptized" with snow.
It was a wonderful morning, perfect for getting back into the daily routine at daycare. The children had fun—and that was the main thing. Just playing, laughing, and being kids, without any rush.
After so much exercise in the fresh air, everyone was very hungry, and it wasn't long before it was time for their afternoon nap —because all the children were happy, but also very tired.
A morning full of winter magic that showed how valuable free play is. ❄️☃️
