With great excitement and a fully loaded handcart, the children from the Birds and Butterflies groups set off through the village. Over the past few days, they had been busy collecting chestnuts in bags and boxes – enough to provide many forest animals with a nutritious food supply for the winter. The destination of their trip was Hunter Falk, who was waiting for them at his hunting school.
The walk took the children through familiar streets, past houses, gardens, and curious villagers who greeted the little procession with smiles. The handcart was heavy, but with combined strength and high spirits, it was pulled bravely along.
When they arrived at Hunter Falk's, he was very happy to see the many chestnuts. "The animals will enjoy them," he said gratefully. He invited the children into his cozy hut, where it was pleasantly warm and a cup of hot tea was already waiting for them.
There, Hunter Falk told the children which animals live in the surrounding forests, what they eat, and how they prepare for the cold season. The children listened eagerly, asked lots of questions, and proudly recounted how they had collected the chestnuts. Using visual aids such as stuffed animals and his hunting equipment, the hunter explained the daily life of wild animals in a way that was easy for children to understand.
After everyone had refreshed themselves with tea, the groups set off on their way back to the daycare center. The handcart was much lighter, but the mood was all the more cheerful. The children were proud of what they had achieved and experienced together.
Thus ended an eventful day that not only imparted knowledge but also gave the children the feeling of having done something good for the animals of the forest—an outing that will surely remain in their memories for a long time to come.
