Last week, everything revolved around apples for the Ladybugs—a versatile and delicious fruit that not only tastes great but also offers numerous learning opportunities. As part of our apple project, the children were able to discover, experiment, and actively participate with all their senses.
Harvesting, processing, and enjoying apples
To kick off the project, the Ladybugs set off together to our garden to harvest ripe apples. The fruit was collected with great enthusiasm—every child was allowed to help. Back in the group, the apples were washed, cut, and turned into applesauce together. Chopping not only promoted fine motor skills, but also social interaction and a sense of responsibility.
The crowning glory: Of course, the homemade applesauce was also sampled—and with great appetite! The children agreed: "Super delicious!" Even children who are usually reluctant to try new things dared to take a spoonful—and often more than one.
Learn through play with the apple tree dice game
In addition to practical activities, the focus was also on learning through play. In a specially prepared dice game featuring an apple tree, the children learned the numbers on the dice. They counted, matched, and practiced basic arithmetic skills—all while having fun.
The dice game not only promoted an understanding of numbers and quantities, but also concentration and the ability to follow rules.
Creativity meets mathematics
In addition, the children were allowed to color their own dice pictures. By consciously designing the individual numbers, they engaged even more intensively with quantities and numbers. Here, too, it became clear that learning can be creative, colorful, and motivating!
An all-round successful project
Our apple project was a complete success: the children were able to explore the topic of apples in a variety of ways—sensory, motor, cognitive, and creative. The focus was always on having fun.
We are already looking forward to many more projects in which the Ladybugs will participate so actively, curiously, and enthusiastically!
